Big Dog Motorcycles – Factory Tour

by biker1

Big Dog Motorcycles

Like American Ironhorse Motorcycles in 2008, Big Dog Motorcycles went out of business in 2011. Since both manufactures used S&S engines, their bikes are still in demand. The top of the line for Big Dog Motorcycles was their K9 chopper model. The K9 Big Dog was very similar to the American Ironhorse top of the line Texas Chopper. Both the K9 & Texas Chopper represent the best factory built soft tail choppers ever!

Big Dog Motorcycles, LLC, started production in 1994 and has since built nearly 25,000 motorcycles, becoming the worlds largest manufacturer of custom motorcycles. The company’s entire line of five motorcycles uses a V-twin 117 cubic inch engine (either carbureted or fuel injected), 6-speed transmission, stretch one-piece steel tank, right side drive, super fat tires, chrome components, steel fenders, and an extensive variety of custom paint colors and graphics.

The company’s motorcycles were distributed through 100 dealers throughout the United States. Designing, manufacturing, and distributing are performed at the company’s 175,000 square-foot world headquarters in Wichita, Kansas. DealerNews, a major industry publication ranked Big Dog Motorcycles the Number One American V-twin motorcycle manufacturer.   Current custom chopper motorcycles for sale.

It’s sad to see a great American company like Big Dog Motorcycles go out of business. The Big Dog Motorcycles are still in demand and always stand out in any motorcycle meet.
