California Motorcycle Injury Accidents Cell Phone Use

California Motorcycle Injury Accidents Cell Phone Use

Motorcycle accidents in California have been increasing for the last couple of years. From various surveys and studies, there seems no doubt that this increase in California or motorcycle accidents as well as automobile accidents can be directly attributable to the use of cell phones by car drivers.

Yes, today probably one of the most dangerous situations to be in when driving a motorcycle here in California, is actually not when you’re driving on the freeway, but when you have just exited the freeway  and are waiting at a stop sign or a light at the bottom of the freeway exit. Actually, I guess for California motorcycle accidents just waiting at a stop sign or a light, sets up the motorcycle rider for a rear end collision by a distracted driver. Read more »

Motorcycle Crash San Diego

Motorcycle Crash San Diego Freeway

Seems like the news channel was trying to water down the severity of this incident. It’s really surprising that this motorcyclist survived without any serious injuries! I mean just imagine going 65 miles an hour or so and running into a tire coming right at you! Read more »

Idiot Motorcycle Riders

Idiot Motorcycle Riders

I was a little hesitant about whether or not to publish this video because I didn’t want to promote motorcycle idiocy. But this is such a prime example of idiot motorcycle riders, I decided to go ahead.

Many people have commented about the lack of safety gear being worn by this lady, but, I think they’re missing the point. For me, the point is total lack of thought about the safety of the other motorcycle riders around this lady and for that matter all other vehicles sharing the highway with her!

There are plenty of videos showing what happens in a crowd of riders when something goes wrong with one of them doing stunts and you have a 700 pound bike and pieces of the bike flying down the road in front of all the other riders behind a showoff idiot. Read more »

Motorcycle Accidents Smart Phones

Motorcycle Accidents Smart Phones

Here in San Diego California, it seems not one day goes by where I don’t hear of a motorcycle accident on the radio. Most of these motorcycle accidents occur during the morning or evening rush hours.

Considering the size and population of San Diego County, and the large motorcycling community,  this information about daily motorcycle accidents should be expected. We have great motorcycle riding weather all year around and unfortunately some pretty congested roadways around town.

Personally, it seems that almost every time I go out for a ride I’m always seeing someone talking or texting while driving. Also, I’ve noticed a number of drivers on the highway cutting across two or more lanes because they seemingly just realized that they’re going to miss their exit. I’m not sure whether these drivers are being distracted by their smart phones or not, but I have a feeling that that could be the reason. Read more »

Double Motorcycle Crash

Double Motorcycle Crash

One motorcycle crash leads to another crash. Both riders were alright.

In 2013, two-wheeled motorcycles accounted for 93 percent of all motorcycles in fatal crashes. In 2013, motorcyclists accounted for 14 percent of all traffic fatalities, 4 percent of all people injured, 18 percent of all occupants (driver and passenger) fatalities, and 4 percent of all occupants injured. LA Motorcyclist crash

LA Motorcyclist crash freeway

The bike rider didn’t cause the accident, the moron who tried to kill him with the car and can’t drive did. You never try to run anybody off the road and you never try to run over somebody on a motorcycle!

The retard in the Nissan was completely in the wrong for crossing the double-double yellow line in the first place – no doubt the biker was shocked and lashed out after being almost hit by someone who is obviously too stupid to live in modern society.

Motorcycle Lane Splitting California

Motorcycle Lane Splitting California is legal!

Heading out of the bay .. I left at the wrong time…there were some breaks in traffic but not much..it started clearing up outside of Vacaville…. longest session yet!

Assembly Bill 51, signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown, for the first time legally defines lanesplitting, the practice of motorcyclists riding between lanes to move quickly through traffic.

Personally, and most probably because I’ve been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, I try to avoid lane splitting whenever possible. naturally here in Southern California, when you’re riding in the air-cooled bike sometimes lane splitting is unavoidable to prevent damage to your engine.

But, with that said,  there’s been many times when I’ve been invited to ride from San Diego up to LA  and have declined just for the fact that I knew it would entail lane splitting in super-heavy LA traffic. I’ve seen my share of distracted drivers here on the California roads,  and really don’t want to increase my odds of injury by splitting lanes on the congested freeways.

Driving a car here in San Diego, on a number of occasions, I’ve been rear ended by an inattentive driver. Luckily, there were never any injuries and only some fender damage in each case. Now, keep in mind that if the same accidents occurred while I was on my motorcycle, the outcome would have been totally different. Read more »

Motorcycle DUI

Motorcycle DUI

Ride sober or get pulled over. Even Motorcycle riders get busted for riding drunk.

Alcohol affects those skills essential to riding a motorcycle – balance and coordination. So it plays a particularly big role in motorcycle fatalities.

Statistics show that the percentage of intoxicated motorcycle riders in fatal crashes is greater than the percentage of intoxicated drivers on our roads.

This is why NHTSA urges all motorcycle riders to always ride smart and sober. Read more »
