2006 Big Dog k9 Motorcycle

2006 Big Dog k9 Motorcycle

The Big Dog k9 is my favorite Factory custom chopper.   My second best Factory custom chopper is the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper.

Personally I’ve owned a number of these great bikes, and  really feel that if you’re into choppers  it would be hard to go wrong with a Big Dog. Read more »

Chopper Motorcycle Ride

Chopper Motorcycle Ride

This chopper motorcycle ride departed early from College Avenue and Highway eight in San Diego with three chopper motorcycle riders. One of the riders, Jose, came down from Oceanside California. We left early in the morning to avoid the August hot weather. Because of the hot weather, we chose to write up the Mount Laguna and the old gold mining town of Julian California.

So, starting at a couple hundred feet elevation, we ended up going up in elevation to 4,226 feet! once we got up to Mount Laguna it was just perfect blue skies with a couple of clouds and great motorcycle riding weather! Read more »

Ironhorse Texas Chopper for Sale

Ironhorse Texas Chopper for Sale

***Now SOLD

2006 Texas Chopper

This great-looking bike was my personal bike that I sold about two years ago. The current owner, who lives in Washington state is getting ready to buy a home and needs to sell it. Below are a few current pictures of the bike as well as links to a couple of my videos where I was riding the bike around San Diego. This is a 2006 American iron horse Texas chopper. Of the about 6 to 8 models that they made, this was their flagship model. Personally the only reason that I sold it two years ago was because I wanted to get another one and be able to have it custom painted the way I wanted.

Yes, not only is this a stunning looking bike, but it’s also a very powerful excellent handling chopper. In my opinion, and the opinion of many other longtime riders, the Texas chopper epitomized the high-end American chopper! Read more »

Motorcycles San Diego

Motorcycles San Diego

Motorcycles San Diego It’s been 49 years since my Harley Davison chopper took first place at a show in the New York City Coliseum.

After taking a break from motorcycling to spend 20 years enjoying hang gliding, about five years ago I got back into custom choppers.

This motorcycle site was set up originally just as a hobby site and even though choppers have gone out of favor (I’m sure they’ll be back) of baggers, I’m still totally hooked on their looks, power and most of all, they are smooth highway cruising. Read more »

Big Dog K9 Review

Big Dog K9 review

American Ironhorse Texas Chopper vs Big Dog K9 motorcycles.

My impressions from owning & riding these two fine factory built chopper motorcycles.

This is the second video in a series, comparing my impressions of owning and riding the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper & Big Dog K9 motorcycles

The Big Dog K9 is a 2009 model, and the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper is a 2006 model.

The focus of this video is a difference between the hydraulic clutch on the Texas Chopper as it compared to the mechanical clutch on the Big Dog K9.

This was the first big dog motorcycle that I owned. So, I was wondering why it had a mechanical clutch being that it was a 2009 model,, when my American Ironhorse Texas Chopper 2006 model had an hydraulic clutch. Read more »

Big Dog Motorcycles – Factory Tour

Big Dog Motorcycles

Like American Ironhorse Motorcycles in 2008, Big Dog Motorcycles went out of business in 2011. Since both manufactures used S&S engines, their bikes are still in demand. The top of the line for Big Dog Motorcycles was their K9 chopper model. The K9 Big Dog was very similar to the American Ironhorse top of the line Texas Chopper. Both the K9 & Texas Chopper represent the best factory built soft tail choppers ever!
