Big Dog K9 review

American Ironhorse Texas Chopper vs Big Dog K9 motorcycles.

My impressions from owning & riding these two fine factory built chopper motorcycles.

This is the second video in a series, comparing my impressions of owning and riding the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper & Big Dog K9 motorcycles

The Big Dog K9 is a 2009 model, and the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper is a 2006 model.

The focus of this video is a difference between the hydraulic clutch on the Texas Chopper as it compared to the mechanical clutch on the Big Dog K9.

This was the first big dog motorcycle that I owned. So, I was wondering why it had a mechanical clutch being that it was a 2009 model,, when my American Ironhorse Texas Chopper 2006 model had an hydraulic clutch.

My first Texas Chopper was the 2004 model, and it had a mechanical clutch. When I went to the 2006 Texas Chopper with the hydraulic clutch, it was a world of difference! After riding with the hydraulic clutch, I never thought I’d be going back to a mechanical clutch again. But sometimes technology can be very surprising, the mechanical clutch on the Big Dog K9, in my opinion, is far superior to any hydraulic motorcycle clutch that I’ve encountered.

Big Dog K9 review

Big Dog Motorcycles used the production-line method where the bikes roll along an assembly line-rather then the single craftsman assembly. Many believe this production-line method was key to Big Dog’s ability to maintain motorcycle construction quality.

The Big Dog’s entire line of five motorcycles used a S&S V-twin 117 cubic inch engine (either carbureted or fuel injected), 6-speed transmission, stretch one-piece steel tank, right side drive, super fat tires, chrome components, steel fenders, and an extensive variety of custom paint colors and graphics.

The Big Dog motorcycle company went out of business in 2011, but, currently their website is still on-line. at: http://bigdogmotorcycles.com/
