California Motorcycle Halloween

This was the last show of the season for the Cajon classic cruise which is a weekly hot Rod and motorcycle show in El Cajon California that runs from about the end of April through the end of October each year.

This annual Southern California Hot Rod and motorcycle show is totally free, for both participants and spectators and runs Wednesday evenings from about five to 8:30 PM., from the end of April through the end of October.

At each show the best vehicles in their class receive an award and naturally there’s always music and entertainment.

Usually in June there is a show that’s dedicated just to motorcycles. This bike night show had about 300 motorcycles turnout this year!

This is a classic example of a win-win proposition for the local merchants and sponsors because it always draws large crowds at each show. Plus, each show is structured around the theme, like: speed week, girls night out, custom creations, British invasion, Thunder on Main etc.

If you haven’t participated in or just visited the show, be sure to keep an eye out around the end of April 2016 when it would be scheduled to start up again.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Hot rods are typically old, classic American cars with large engines modified for linear speed. The origin of the term “hot rod” is unclear. A possible origin includes replacement of the camshaft with a new (“hotter”) version, sometimes known as a hot stick or hot rod. Roadsters were the cars of choice because they were light, easy to modify, and available inexpensively. The term became commonplace in the 1930s or 1940s as the name of a car that had been “hopped up” by modifying the engine in various ways to achieve higher performance. A term that was common in the early days to refer to a hot rod was a “gow job”. This has fallen into total disuse except with historians.
