San Diego Harley Rider Ol’ Bud 80 year old Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider. Bud has been riding Harley’s for 60 years!

You’d think that guys in their 80’s would be riding mobility scooters and not high powered Harley-Davidson motorcycles!

I think it’s always interesting to talk with the older generation of Harley-Davidson riders.

I only hope that I’ll still be enjoying motorcycling when I’m in my 80s!

After age 70, you can no longer renew your driver’s license by mail. You must go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). You will take a vision test, and you may have to take the written and driving tests.

Few people want to stop driving. Most of us see driving as a symbol of our freedom and independence. It can be hard to be honest about our driving skills, but driving too long can put your life and the lives of others in danger.

In the industrialized countries, life expectancy and, thus, the old age population have increased consistently over the last decades. In the United States the proportion of people aged 65 or older increased from 4% in 1900 to about 12% in 2000. In 1900, only about 3 million of the nation’s citizens were 65 or older (out of 76 million total American citizens). By 2000, the number of senior citizens had increased to about 35 million (of 280 million US citizens). Population experts estimate that more than 50 million Americans—about 17 percent of the population—will be 65 or older in 2020. By 2050, it is projected that at least 400,000 Americans will be 100 or older.

By 2050, 33% of the developed world’s population and almost 20% of the less developed world’s population will be over 60 years old.

Ol’ Bud has a lot of Harley riding ahead of him!
